Tire Care And Maintenance Important Safety Information

Tire Selection

A. Consult your owners manual, local dealer, or contact a Bridgestone Technical Center for the correct tire size, load rating, tire and rim tires matching.
B. Some motorcycle wheel positions may only be fitted with radial, bias, or bias belted tires. Consult owners manual, local dealer, or Canada Bridgestone Technical center for the correct tire/wheel combination for your vehicle. tread
Note: Tires marked “Front Tire” or “Rear Tire” should be mounted only in their stated wheel positions.

Motorcycle Trailers and Sidecars

A. Do not pull trailers behind your motorcycle. Towing trailers behind your motorcycle may contribute to motorcycle instability. It may also cause tire stress through overload. This overloaded condition manufacturer. could cause damage to the tire which could result in a sudden tire failure and/or accident. Bridgestone does not warranty tires fitted on motorcycles fitted with trailers.
B. Sidecars should not be fitted to motorcycles without approval from your vehicle manufacturer. If approval is obtained for sidecar fitment to your vehicle, the tire manufacturer should be consulted, before fitment, to ensure proper tire fitment and load caring capacity.

Tire Repair

Bridgestone recommends only a patch plug combination type repair.
A. The tire must be demounted from the wheel and repaired by a qualified tire repair shop or motorcycle dealer.
B. The tire should not be operated over 50mph during the first 24 hours and it should never be operated in excess of 80 mph
C. No form of temporary repair should be used as a permanent repair
D. Bridgestone will not warranty any tire with an improper repair

Tire Sealants

Bridgestone does not recommend the use of tire sealants. This is a temporary repair and does not fix the tire problem. This can also hide damage to the tire and may result in a sudden tire failure and/or accident.

Tire Balance

Bridgestone does not recommend the use of liquid or dry balancers or sealants. Bridgestone will not warranty any tire which has been injected with these materials.

Tire Storage

Bridgestone does not recommend storing tires in the following ways:
A. Frequent and varied temperature changes during storage
B. Direct sunlight
C. Storing where electric motors are present
D. Storing tire in contact with petroleum products, water or other liquid.

Tire Pressure

A. Follow inflation pressure recommendations in Owner’s Manual for recommended tire pressure.
B. For fully loaded or dual riding touring motorcycle applications, inflate front and rear tires to maximum recommendation by the vehicle manufacturer (maximum load and inflation pressure for tire can be found on the sidewall of the tire).
C. Under inflated tires can result in poor handling, higher operating temperature, irregular tire wear, and irreparable damage to the tire.
D. Over inflated tires can result in a harsh ride and increased wear in the center of the tread.
E. Check cold tire pressure frequently with a good quality gauge and always before extended trips.
F. Repeated loss of air pressure may be result of tire damage. Perform a visual inspection for any cuts, abrasions, punctures, blisters, etc. It may be necessary to remove tire from the wheel to perform a full inspection.

Tire Clearance

A. Consult the vehicle manufacturer if you intend to mount sizes other than indicated in your owner’s manual.
B. Adequate clearance of fenders, swing arm, etc., must be maintained. An increase or decrease in tire size may require an increase or decrease in wheel width.

Run in period

In order for your new tire to provide optimum performance, tires should be ridden very cautiously for the first 100 miles in order for the tread surface to be “Scuffed-In” and work properly. Directly after new tires are mounted, sudden acceleration, maximum braking and hard cornering must be avoided. This will allow the rider to adjust to the “Feel” and handling characteristics of the new tire and for the tire to be “Scuffed-In” correctly in order to achieve optimum grip level.

Care and Use at Low Temperatures

Motorcycle tires may crack in the tread area from impact or low ambient temperatures; handle and store the tires with care. Always ride carefully until the tires are warmed up, particularly in low ambient temperature conditions.

Tire Rotation

Always ensure that tire is mounted in direction of rotation arrow. Mounting tire in wrong direction of rotation could result in severe tire failure.
