Bridgestone Sweeps Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP
Nashville, Tenn. (December 8, 2005) – The Bridgestone brand made it a clean sweep during the Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP at Rogers Centre in Toronto claiming the top six positions on Saturday, December 3. James “Bubba” Stewart took first place, followed by Ricky Carmichael, Chad Reed, Ivan Tedesco, Nick Wey, and Michael Byrne.
James Stewart, with his Bridgestone-shod Kawasaki, battled it out with reigning Supercross champion, Ricky Carmichael, to win his first Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP race of the season. Winning the Holeshot, Stewart led the first three laps but crashed in turn one, allowing Carmichael, who had started fourth, to claim the lead. But Stewart was in top form, and by lap 17, reclaimed the lead, sailing through the remainder of the race for a satisfying win amidst five highly competitive Bridgestone riders.
“What an exciting season opener,” said Bob Graham, motorcycle product manager, Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC. “The top six riders of the race had one thing in common -- they were all supported by the Bridgestone brand’s advanced competition tires. Race-winning results such as these really validate all the work we’ve put into product testing and development.”
