Stewart Takes First, But Not Without A Fight

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 19, 2007) - Round 11 of the Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Series held at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida was a memorable event for the 42,000-plus racing fans in attendance. They watched as Ricky Carmichael fought James Stewart for victory in his last Supercross race, ending his beyond-incredible Supercross career. The battle was fierce, but James Stewart came across the finish line first, with Carmichael just .968 seconds behind. Chad Reed filled the final podium position.

Both Stewart, who took home his 8th victory of the series, and Carmichael agreed that it was one of the best races they have ever had. At the beginning of the race, Chad Reed grabbed the holeshot, but within a few laps, Carmichael took advantage of a slight bobble by Reed and took the first place position. It wasn’t until the halfway point that Stewart, who worked his way up from a fifth place start, was able to catch Carmichael and go head-to-head for first. Carmichael held Stewart for a few laps before Stewart finally took the lead, with Carmichael racing even with him a few laps later. Stewart’s break came when Carmichael bobbled slightly causing him to cross the finish less than a second behind Stewart. Chad Reed soon followed suit, taking third place.

All three podium finishers were on Bridgestone brand tires.
